What is a Seaman book ?

Also known as the Continuous Discharge Certificate, the Seaman book is an essential document for seafarers involved in maritime / offshore projects. It validates your skills and expertise within the maritime sector.

Do I need a Seaman book ?

The Seaman book contains a maritime license and work history, essential for changing jobs, working freelance, or getting hired on ships. It’s legally required and must be carried on board all ships.

Why would I choose a Panama Seaman book ?

It is the mostly recognized flag in the maritime industry, and Panama Maritime Authority allow any nationality to get this booklet.

How can I get a Panama Seaman book?

Your Seaman book is still valid, but it is recommended to keep a soft copy of expired passport.

Companies can issue a Purchase Order to benefit payment terms of 30 days.

Can I change the delivery address ?

Yes during the process but not after shipping. To avoid any mistake, delivery address will be confirmed before dispatch.

No glasses or conspicuous accessories (long earrings, hair clips or headbands, elaborate hairstyles, piercings, etc.).

No turban, cap or hat covering the hair or hairline, unless worn daily for religious reasons. The face should be visible and the garment covering the head must not shade it.

Technical requirements

What means STCW approved ?

The International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) for Seafarers, 1978, establishes minimum qualification standards. This convention was the first to establish these basic requirements for the training of seafarers.

What means OPITO approved ?

The Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization certify that certificate like BOSIET have been issued by a training center meeting standards of offshore industry qualification.

What means BOSIET / FOET certificate ?

Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) certification is to be able to work and stay on all types of offshore installations (platforms, barges, FPSOs, wind farms, etc.).

Contents : HSE management rules / Basic fire-fighting techniques / Preventing accidents in the workplace / Practice first-aid techniques / Evacuation of ships and installations at sea / Survival techniques at sea / Be able to evacuate a submerged helicopter.

What means SSA certificate ?

Ship Security Awareness is about the different security threats and how seafarers can maintain security on board of a ship.

What kind of medical certificate is required to get a Seaman book ?

Certificate approved STCW & MLC ( and OGUK for offshore ).

What is the SYNTEGRA certificate ?

For national resident of : Philippines, India, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Myanmar, South Korea. Doctors must be recognized by Panama and issue their certificate through the medical software verification platform SYNTEGRA.

What means PDE ?

Previous Documentary Evaluation (PDE) is mandatory for Indians, Filipinos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesian crew. It must be endorsed by Panama Maritime Authority.

It is a verification that the applicant fulfils with all the requirements for getting the seaman’s book related to the corresponding position, including the administrative and technical requirements, experience letter or any other document that demonstrates their position on board.

The Panama Maritime Authority (PMA) is proudly the world’s largest Ship Registry. In a continuous effort to maintaining the highest standards of safety for both the marine fleet, which sails under the Panamanian Flag, and the ships that navigate in Panama’s national waters.

What is the difference between capacity of Marine Technician : MT / MT MOU / MTFP ?

MT : Marine Technician, requires a Basic Safety Training

MT MOU : Marine Technician Mobile Offshore Unit, requires a BOSIET approved OPITO.

MTFP : Marine Technician Fixed Platform, only if you work on Panama flagged Fixed Platform
