Nautitech N40 open convoying

Arrival at the quay of Port Camargues, on board a Nautitech N40 open, shipped from La Rochelle.

1587 nautical miles, 3 weeks passed since the sailing catamaran was taken in hand at the Port des Minimes, 12 days at sea, in the company of the happy owner couple and my crew member.

After the preparation of the catamaran, fresh out of the Rochefort shipyards, first of a new series, we had to wait 4 days for the weather to be favorable for the crossing of the Bay of Biscay.
The depressions were following each other, we only had a small window, before another one arrived with full force on the Galician coasts bringing with it its share of gusts to more than 40 knots and a strong sea with 4m swell.
So we stopped in La Coruña for 3 days, the time to let it pass and take stock of various elements.

The second stage will take us from La Coruña to Cadiz, in 3 days and 7 hours, after having passed the famous Capes Finisterre and St Vincent, downwind sailing with a NNW flow.
Once again, we had to stop for a few days because of a strong easterly wind that prevented us from passing the Strait of Gibraltar in reasonable conditions.

On Saturday April 8th at 8am, we left the magnificent city of Andalusia under a strong E’ly flow but no choice according to the different routings, because the Tramontana is expected for the end of the course in the Gulf of Lion.
So we sailed under motor sail, heading 30/30 until Gibraltar, then calm waters awaited us in the Mediterranean until the end of the course, where we docked in the largest marina in Europe, just in time for the catamaran to be exhibited at the Multihull Show in La Grande Motte.

Public Relations Manager for the CIC Normandy Channel Race 2021 _ Class 40

On this Sunday, May 30, 2021, the 12th edition of the CIC Nomandy Channel Race 2021 was launched;

22 boats out of 23 starters crossed the finish line of this 12th CIC Normandy Channel Race.

If at first glance this data seems anecdotal, it is in fact revealing a rather exceptional edition on several points. In addition to a scenario with multiple twists and turns and unsustainable suspense that has become the hallmark of this race, The varied weather, but always with a bearing bearing on almost the entire course and the overall timing favourable to level crossings are facts that are out of the standards of this great Norman classic.

Conditions that cumulated will have had two rare causes: the race route was completed in its entirety, only the 2nd time in 12 editions and a new record of the race in less than 5 days was established.

This assessment, the CIC Normandy Channel Race owes it above all to all these ingredients that it combines and that make it such a special event in the calendar of the Class40. A unique course, an international level, incredible sports scenarios, the Class40 spirit, … form a skillful mixture that attracts every year specialists in the discipline in the Channel and the Celtic Sea. Can’t wait for 2022!

Impact of the Covid health crisis in the maritime sector

It must be noted that despite the efforts of international governments for more than a year to counter the spread of the virus, Covid 19 is unfortunately still a problem to travel, which leads in particular to complications when crossing borders.

Therefore, if you are sailors or seafarers on an offshore mission, since 2021 you must be in possession of a Seaman Book (SB), to pass the port authorities.Indeed, your classic passport and an employment contract are no longer sufficient to justify your transit to customs on any vessel present in international waters.

For more information, go to the Maritime Booklet [Seaman Book] page in the Services tab of our website.

Shore Team Logistics at BeYou Racing – Charal Sailing Team

At BeYou Racing “Vivons Fort” /)/)/)

I was lucky enough to join the BeYou Racing Team for the Charal Sailing Team project in the IMOCA 60, as Shore Team Logistics.

These 4 months spent in Brittany at Lorient la Base have been very rewarding with the completion of 2 years of work to unlock the secrets of Ocean Racing and thus integrate the heart of a top level sports team.

From the launch, to the first training sessions of the season, via the Rolex Fastnet Race that the Charal Sailing Team won, as well as the 3 races of the DEFI AZIMUT, I was able to complete this intense mission until the start of the Transat Jacques Vabre 2019.

A beautiful Normandy Channel Race 2019 !

A very nice race, hyper intense, with Class40 in contact all the time.

There was always a boat at sight of each other which is crazy enough, it changes chairs. The format is top with incessant reversals of situation.

A word from the skipper “It’s a great race, the course is crazy! We’ve seen places we would never have seen otherwise, wow! We learned more in 6 days here than anywhere before because it’s a really complicated race. “

Wedding charter of Jess & Alex in New-Caledonia

A quick note from the “Caillou” where I was more than happy to welcome aboard S / Y Tourlourou, Jess & Alex freshly married, with their gang of friends.

About twenty french people with which we spent some great moments on the Isle of Pines and in the South Lagoon. Excellent weather window, anchorages of dreams, two catamarans to walk all that pretty world. Remy at the helm of S / Y Black Mamba, and the unforgettable Farid to animate and make the show!

Beautiful fishing (tazar, mekouas, yellowfin, parrots, etc …), kite sessions on the only sandbar in the world, full of sun of pure air and friendship. “Tata” (see you soon in New Caledonian)
